October was a busy one with 5 birthdays to celebrate and plenty going on. We had our Wear it Pink day where staff and residents wore pink to raise money for charity. Residents also decorated cupcakes with pink decorations and everyone enjoyed pink themed treats.
Last month residents planted bulbs into pots which in the new year will hopefully grow mini daffodils which will bring a bit of welcome spring colour into their rooms after the dark winter.
Much of last month was spent on preparing for our Halloween party. Residents made pompom spiders, painted wooden decorations, decorated witches’ hats and carved pumpkins. The party was great fun, with treats, music and games- some of the carers having a go at bobbing for apples was quite the highlight!
This month as the clocks have gone back and the weather has got a distinct wintery feel to it, we will be gearing up for the festive season.
On Bonfire night we will be having fireworks and hotdogs, with residents able to watch either outside or from the comfort of the lounge through the window.
We will be remembering those who fought for us this month with Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, we will be watching the services on TV, proudly wearing our poppies.
We also have Helen performing on her keyboard this month- always a favourite with our residents.
Have a lovely November everyone!
