We hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Last month was fun-packed and full of Christmas cheer. For the resident’s Christmas party, we had a fantastic festive performance by Helen Pierson, it was lovely to see everyone joining in. We were also treated to a yummy buffet put on by Maria and Betty- the lemon chicken was a firm favourite.

We’ve been very crafty this month making some lovely bauble decorations, Christmas cards and decorating some tasty treats as well.

It’s been great to see so many of the residents and staff wearing festive clothing- on Christmas jumper day it was a delight to see everyone’s unique jumpers.

We had a festive singalong with Helen on her keyboard and were treated to the vocal talents of Viorica.

The carol singalong was a really enjoyable event for staff and residents alike, it was so nice to see everyone coming together to sing, especially some lovely solo performances from a couple of the staff.

On Christmas Eve we held a Christingle service for residents, they watched a pre-recorded service by the Church of England and they all had a Christingle orange to go with it. We were also visited by Father Christmas himself, who saw every resident and gave them their Christmas present.

We ended the year with a New Year’s Eve party with drinks, snacks and music, finished with a good singalong to Auld Lang Syne.

We’ll be starting the new year looking forward with hopes of a more settled year with less trouble and restrictions from covid.

We’ll have our usual visit from Michael and Roger from the church and the ever-popular exercise class from G. Fitness.

We have the big garden birdwatch this month so we’ll gather together to count the birds in the garden. The last few months we’ve taken a real interest in the wildlife in the garden and it will be fun to see what we find.
